COLOR Gardens
Mission
To teach about sustainable, organic gardening while building community, beautifying downtown Ventura and furthering the mission of COLOR by growing produce for local food pantries.
COLOR’s community garden will be grown primarily for the purpose of donating produce to local food pantries. We hope to procure all supplies and expertise needed for the garden project from local businesses and other non-profit organizations. In addition to feeding hungry people and building community, COLOR’s garden will beautify downtown Ventura. The garden site is of historical significance as well. It, along with the entire city block the library is on, was the former site of the Theodosia Burr Shepherd Seed Farm. We’re restoring the land back to its original use, except we’ll be farming for food, not seeds and flowers.
About the Garden
